Week 3, here we go!

I am officially healthy, too! It's amazing. It only took 13 days of feeling uber crummy with a cold and sinus infection before I turned the corner. Without a low-grade fever, I was also finally able to sleep soundly Friday and Saturday night which did wonders for my energy level.

It's a good thing better days are ahead, because my Week 2 star chart is pretty pathetic. Basically, all I did was get Greta out for a walk every day. I didn't stretch. I didn't do PT. I didn't run. I didn't get up in the morning. I also worked only 1 full day! How is that possible?

I did go out for a 6.5 mile walk with Greta on Saturday--she so needed to run in the woods. And I did the same loop again on Sunday with some unintended running. It was about 37 when I headed out and I was chilly, so I started running and then ended up running the flat and downhill portions of the trail, probably at least 3 miles. It felt good to run, but the long flat/downhill stretches started to get hard--it was a good reminder that the evil crud took a lot out of me.

But today is the first day of Week 3 and I am ready to rock my star chart!!

Oh, and I have been daydreaming about hiking the PCT in April non-stop for the last week--thanks to my cold and not being able to really do much else. I know you want to join me, Tesia!!

If at first you don't succeed...

Last week was pretty pathetic.  Acutally, I should have given myself a couple more stars because i did ski all day Saturday and Sunday, but still.  How hard can it be to do 15 minutes of yoga/day?  I'm officially over my cold, so I'm hoping this week is better!

Week 2: not going so well!

This cold is making it hard to get stars! I am getting Greta her daily exercise, but that's about it. I guess Saturday and Sunday's sad attempts count as running stars, but I probably won't repeat that experience again soon!

Week 2 isn't off to a great start. Greta and I took short walks yesterday and today, but no PT or stretching yet. I'm hopeful that after taking yesterday as a sick day and only working half a day today, that tomorrow I will feel much better!

Let's kick this cold!

Day 9 for Muggy, Day 11 for me, the crud is still hangin on, but I know we will make it through!  I am seeing signs that the end is near, but I need to keep getting lots of rest.  I feel like I should temporarily alter my star chart and to be rewarded for getting 9+ hours of sleep per night and drinking 10 cups of tea instead of exercise.

Never underestimate the power of the star chart

Miracle of miracles--I got out of bed this morning and walked Greta. I attribute this 100% to the power of the star chart and the boots in the mail (they show up tomorrow). Greta got a second walk this evening, despite the heavy freezing rain, and then I did all the strength/stretching/PT that's required. Hello, stars!

It's pretty amazing how great I feel about getting up this morning! Before it felt impossible, now it feels doable... which is good because I need to repeat this tomorrow and Friday! And adding to the challenge, I need to get up and not just walk, but run! Should be interesting--I'll keep you posted!

Still enjoying those cups of hot water :)

The Crud

I'm struggling to fill earn the stars in my star chart - how hard can it be?  I'm blaming the crud, which I still have and feel SO badly about giving it to you, Muggy!  I'm really, really sorry.  Can I recommend the generic version of Theraflu?  It's helped me sleep like a sack of potatoes the last couple of nights.  I have so far completed: 1 yoga, 1 bike workout, 1 ski workout and 1 journal entry.  So what if it's day three?  I'm determined to get all 3 stars today.  Can I do it?

Question for the day:

How many times do you think we've run the golf course loop? Wish we were there today!
